Kýlýçdaroðlu: We will not let Diyarbakir Prison to be destroyed

What happened in Diyarbakir prison after the military coup of 1980 was a shame on humanity and the prison will converted to a museum, said the leader of the main opposition party CHP who is visiting Diyarbakir today.

Kýlýçdaroðlu also said he was in Diyarbakir in 1976 and since then the city got bigger together its problems. He also said that it is the obligation of CHP to help Diyarbakir to get over its problems. “We will definitely extend the freedoms. Rights, freedoms, bread and employment will come to Diyarbakir” added CHP leader.

Criticizing the Turkish PM’s statement in which he said that Diyarbakir prison will be destroyed and a bigger prison will be constructed Kýlýçdaroðlu said they will not let the notorious prison to be destroyed and the prison will be converted to a museum to remember the tragedy lived in the prison. “ Diyarbakir does not deserve this tragedy. We are in favour of living together but someone is discriminating the region. It is our burden to bring an end to this tragedy” added Kýlýçdaroðlu.

Kýlýçdaroðlu further said they define the ethnic identity as the honour of people. He also invited everyone to CHP in order to work in conjunction to solve the problems.

He further stated that peace should be promoted rather than war and conflicts. He also stated that they failed to listen to the problems of Diyarbakir but now they will recover it and make Diyarbakir the city of future.
