Kurds take to streets for Öcalan in Cyprus

Kurds living in Limassol called for an end to the isolation, emphasizing that the interruption of the phone call with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan has increased concerns.

Kurds living in Limassol, Cyprus took to the streets to protest the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Answering a call by the Democratic Kurdish Community Center, masses met in the Moloz Park, organized a march and a press release. The activists distributed leaflets.

Speaking at the protest, Kurdish politician Lezgin Serhat said, “Our concerns about Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan continue. The interruption of his phone call with his brother Mehmet Öcalan has increased our concerns even more. Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in isolation by the fascist, genocidal Turkish state for 22 years, is the red line of the Kurdish people. We are waiting for Leader Öcalan to meet face to face with his lawyers as soon as possible.”

The action ended with the slogans "We will destroy the world without Öcalan", "Bijî Serok Apo" [Long Live Leader Öcalan] "Be Serok jiyan nabe" [No life without the leader].
