Kurds from Frankfurt take over Freedom for Öcalan Vigil

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, the longest protest organised by Kurds in Europe, has been taken over by a new group of activists from Mainz on its 363rd week.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil this week, the 363rd, has been taken over by a group of Kurdish activists from Frankfurt. They took over the Vigil from the activists from Mainz.

The activists are: Abbas Karatas, Ali Umut and Ali Dayi. They will be joined by other 4 activists coming from Frankfurt today.

The activists said in a statement that the Kurdish people will contiue to fight untill Abdullah Öcalan is freed and underlined that Öcalan should be free in order to ensure peace and democracy in the Middle East.

Around 2,000 Kurdish activists living in Europe have joined the Vigil since 25 June 2012 when it first began demanding freedom for Öcalan.
