Kurdish villager killed another wounded by Iranian border guards

A Kurdish villager was killed and another wounded along the Turkish-Iranian boder after Iranian soldiers opened fire on Sunday. A villager is reportedly missing after the incident.

Three villagers from the eastern province of Van’s Esenyamaç village, on the Iranian border, crossed the border to fetch their animals which reportedly had crossed to the Iranian side. 19 year old Mehmet Keskin was killed and 18-year-old Zakir Turgut was injured. Another villager Akif Yýldýz, 24, went missing after the incident.

Turgut was brought to the city of Van by other villagers and hospitalized.

According to ANF's records the 53 Kurdish villagers were killed in Turkey-Iran border between July 2009 - January 2010.
