Kurdish prisoner at imminent risk of execution

On January 2, 2011, the Intelligence agents went to the Orumyieh Central prison and transferred [Kurdish Iranian] Hossein Khezri to an undisclosed location.

In November 2010, HRANA announced in a report that branch 9 of the Execution of Sentences Court in Orumieyh has sent Mr. Khezri’s case to the Provincial Attorney General. Upon consent of the Attorney General, the risk of execution of Hossein Khezri will be imminent.

Hossein Khezri had previously written a letter addressed to the public and human rights organizations in which he requested that his complaints against the Intelligence system, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the judicial system be investigated and followed up on.

An excerpt of his letter reads that he spent 49 days in solitary confinements run by the IRGC and a secret detention centre not under the control of the Prison Direction organization where he was severely tortured and forced to make false and self-incriminating confessions.
