Mayor of the biggest Kurdish city Diyarbakir Osman Baydemir said the AKP government will create provocations on 12 September, the day of referendum, and after the riots started in the streets ballots boxes will be removed that filled with YES votes. Baydemir called on the people of Diyarbakir to keep their composure and not to be deceived.
Speaking at a program at Roj TV Mayor of the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality Osman Baydemir said he is expecting that the boycott rate will exceed 60% in Diyarbakir. “Referendum and ballots are indispensible for democracies. However, for the Kurdish people boycott means developing an attitude towards those who denies the rights of the Kurds and are democrats for show only.” added Baydemir.
Baydemir also stated that the proposed constitution is aiming at deceiving the Kurdish and leaving them without rights, like it was done in 1920’s. “However, the Kurds are different now and cannot be deceived. They will find their on the stage of history, just the way they deserve.” added Baydemir.
Baydemir further stated that the surveys indicate that boycott rate will exceed 60 % in Diyarbakir. “The government officials are following these results which worry them. That’s was they are deploying additional reinforcement in Diyarbakir. They might resort some unlawful methods.” added Baydemir.
