KNK Diplomacy Committee agrees 6-month plan of activities

KNK Diplomacy Committee held its first meeting of the year and discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and the situation of the Kurds. At the meeting, a 6-month activity plan of the congress was issued.

The Joint Diplomacy Committee of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) held its regular meeting at the Congress building in Brussels.

The latest developments in the Middle East and Kurdistan were discussed by the many party representatives and personalities who attended the meeting.

The attacks by Turkey and Iran were condemned, and a call was made to participate in the campaign launched for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The meeting also talked about the local elections to be held in Turkey on 31 March, and the Kurds were asked to participate united in the elections and demonstrate their will to govern themselves.

Koç: We should agree some common points

Making the opening speech of the meeting, KNK Diplomatic Spokesperson Nilüfer Koç compared the developments in Kurdistan to what happened in 1991 and said: “What we are experiencing today is very similar to the process 30 years ago. Turkey and Iran attack Kurdistan every day. Occupation attacks occur every day and our people are massacred. There is a great danger on our lands. Kurdish parties have to meet and get together to end these attacks.”

Salah: Our policies are insufficient

Speaking on behalf of the GORAN Movement, Miran Salah touched upon the events in Kirkuk and criticized the policies of Kurdish parties saying that “the policies of our parties are inadequate and wrong. This harms us. We need to act together and in unity to eliminate this immediately."

Aydar: Turkish psychological war has collapsed

KNK Executive Board member Zübeyir Aydar said that the Turkish state has been waging an all-out war against the Kurds for the last 9 years and added: “The Turkish state is bombing Kurdistan and killing people every day. There is great pressure on the Kurds. However, what has happened in the last month shows that the Turkish state's psychological war has collapsed. The guerrilla turned this upside down with its actions. However, what happened in the mountains of Kurdistan is a great example of heroism. Without the KDP, the Turkish army cannot advance a step. Unfortunately, the KDP is leading the Turkish army in every aspect," he said.

In his speech, Aydar pointed out that there has been great instability in South Kurdistan since 2017 and added: “The people are not happy with the current administration. This administration needs to change for the future of the Kurds. What has recently happened in Kirkuk shows this. If we are not united, what happened in Lausanne 100 years ago will continue."

KNK's 6-month activity plan

Following political evaluations, the meeting continued with discussions on KNK's new term activities.

Following the discussions, a 6-month activity plan was drawn up.

The plan will be

*Reviewing the preparations for the international forum to be held in April in Paris, as a continuation of the Lausanne Conference.

*Carrying out work for the 22nd Ordinary Congress of the KNK.

*Making final preparations for the Kurdistan Conference to be held in April under the leadership of the Congress.

*To hold talks with Kurdish parties to accelerate the work of Kurdistan National Unity.
