Kışanak, Anlı and Ata put in Kandıra Prison in Kocaeli province

Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı, and former BDP parliamentarian Ayla Akat Ata were put in Kandıra Prison in the western province of Kocaeli after their arrest last night.

After getting detained on October 25 and arrested by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on October 30, Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı were accused of “membership to an armed organization” and put in Kandıra F-type Prison. Former BDP parliamentarian and KJA Spokesperson Ayla Akat Ata was also put in the same prison.

Mehmet Emin Aktar, the lawyer of Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı, stated that officials had arranged which prison his clients would be put in before yesterday’s court hearing, but this was kept secret from the lawyers.

Due to ‘security concerns,’ Kışanak, Anlı and Ata were taken to Kandıra F-type Prison in Kocaeli via İstanbul last night without notifying the arrestees’ lawyers, and placed in prison around 03:00 last night.
