Isolation of Öcalan condemned at the 'Festival of Humanity'

At the 'Festival of Humanity' in Paris, the isolation on Öcalan was condemned, and HDP parliamentarian Tuğba Hezer remarked that fascism cannot survive where women are free.

The Fête de l'Humanité (Festival of Humanity), organised by French Communist Party each September in French capital Paris, has drawn many people from different countries also in this 87th year, including Kurdistan.

The humanitarian non-profit organization Kurdish Red Crescent and Kurdish Women's Movement opened information stand in the festival area and distributed leaflets and brochures on the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

“THE KURDS ARE RESISTING AGAINST THE AKP AND ISIS”

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) parliamentarian Tuğba Hezer joined a panel in the tent set up by Democratic Kurdish Society Center on Kurdistan, and said "As ISIS was spreading across the Middle East, it was the Kurds who stopped them. Turkey continues with their full-scale barbarism, while again the Kurds led by Kurdish women are the ones giving the most efficient struggle against them. In a society with democracy, peace and freedom of women, fascism or dictatorship cannot gain foothold. We will strengthen the unity, will and organization of women and enhance our struggle."

Also attending the festival, the France Kurdistan Solidarity Association running the "Stop Erdogan" campaign launched a postcard campaign for jailed deputies of the HDP.  Rojava representative for France, Xalid Îsa also attended the panels of the association and evaluated the latest situation in Rojava, Geneva talks and Turkey’s plans on Idlib and Efrîn.

The festival turned into a cultural feast with the performances of various artists including Farqin, Diwana Evdale Zeynike, Mubin, Zazlooz, Renas, Tari Zilmat, Şararoj and Nuarin under the lead of Mesopotamian Democratic Movement for Culture and Arts (TEV-ÇAND) in Paris.

Participants of the festival joined the folklore groups in the Kurdish traditional dance halay performances for hours. Local cuisine was also offered to the attendees of the festival.
