Iraq cancels visit by Turkish Defense Minister over attack

The Turkish Ambassador in Iraq has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the third time since June.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry canceled the visit of the Turkish Defense Minister in protest to the Turkish state's attack on Tuesday which killed two high-ranking soldiers and summoned the Turkish Ambassador.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the Baghdad administration would issue a "protest letter to the Turkish ambassador in the harshest terms to reject the attacks and violations".

The Turkish Ambassador has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the third time since June.

The Baghdad government announced that they do not want to go ahead with the visit of the Turkish Defense Minister scheduled for Thursday.

The Iraqi Presidency also stated that the Turkish state's attack on Tuesday, which killed two top Iraqi soldiers, was unacceptable, and urged the Turkish state to stop all military operations.
