Cemal Kobanê and Ömer Bağdur have been on hunger strike in the German city of Kassel for 51 days.

They joined the resistance led by DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

A delegation of General Students Committee of the University of Kassel visited the hunger strikers on Wednesday.

The committee members, who received information about the hunger strike resistance from both activists, also exchanged views on how they could help.

Speaking at the meeting, Cemal Kobanê and Ömer Bağdur said: “There are thousands of activists and prisoners on hunger strike, in Europe, Kurdistan, Turkey, Canada and the prisons.”

But the world, said the two activists, “and especially European politicians and media are very quiet and do not listen to the cry of the hunger strikers. For example, in Germany activists are on indefinite hunger strike in many cities, but German media and politicians play three monkeys exactly as Turkey is doing. The three monkeys attitude is against Kurds. If you support our actions we want you to voice our demands to everyone, everywhere.”

Committee members stated that they respect the hunger strike resistance, describing it as a peaceful action.

The students said: “We will do all we can to support this action, publicising and writing on social media and at every possible venue, including the Hessen Council.”
