High Election Board in Hewler stroke out 27,000 voters

Irregularities on voters' registers have been found by the Kurdistan Region Independent High Election Board

Kurdistan Region Independent High Election Board announced that over 27,000 voters have been removed from the lists in Hewlêr.

Kurdistan Region Independent Supreme Board of Elections Hewlêr representative, Aram Necmedin held a press conference to talk about the election preparations.

Necmedin said that in Hewlêr there are 132,326,000 voters registered, but after the examination of the lists 27,694 people were removed. 

The reason for the removal was that 6,654 people were found to have their names recorded twice while 223 people were no longer alive.

It was also reported that the voter registration centers wanted to record 53,867 people and wanted 165 people to change their election addresses.

In the meantime, it has been confirmed that voters can register to vote in the Kurdistan Regional Parliamentary Elections until 16 August.

Elections are scheduled on 16 September.
