HDP’s Pervin Buldan: The AKP is afraid of Demirtaş

Speaking in Şemdinli, Buldan called on people to vote for jailed MP candidate Leyla Güven.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Pervin Buldan attended the rally held in Şemdinli district of Hakkari as part of the party’s elections campaign.

Buldan began her speech by saying that “the sorrows and pains suffered by Şemdinli will never be forgotten”. She remembered the people who were having a picnic and was bombed and “called terrorists on top of that. We will say our opinion on 24 June.”

The HDP co-chair and MP candidate also remembered that “in Şemdinli, our shepherds were tortured. The government tried to break the people of Şemdinli but could not win. They are behaving like they did in the ‘90s. Do you remember when together with JİTEM, they tried to frame Seferi Yilmaz and his Umut [Hope] Bookshop? Today the same provocation is being implemented in Suruç and all over Kurdistan. Because the mentality has not changed”.

Buldan added that “that mentality emerged today in the alliance made by the AKP government. But we will not allow this country to be taken back to the ‘90s. On 24 June we will win.”

People will set Leyla Güven free

The HDP co-chair then asked the crowd to send their greetings to Abdullah Zeydan and Selma Irmak, HDP MPs for Şırnak, who are in prison.

“You are now facing a greater responsibility. - said Buldan - Because your candidate is in prison, dear Leyla Güven is in prison. But I believe that Şemdinli will set Leyla Güven free. We will win 3-0 in Hakkari”.

Buldan then call on people to trust the HDP. “Trust your comrades in prisons, - she said - trust Selahattin Demirtaş. After 24 June no F16s will fly over these areas. Peace doves will fly instead. Because Selahattin Demirtaş will be the President of this country”.

AKP fears Demirtaş

Ending her speech, Buldan said: “Remember when you go to polls on Sunday that the power is afraid of HDP. They fear Selahattin Demirtaş. We are their nightmares which will turn into reality to counter them”.
