A group of activists from the Netherlands, Aynur Dersim, Şore Mayin, Feyzi Dep and Fevzi Şixo, has taken over the Vigil. The activists highlighted the role of Öcalan in Kurdistan and the Middle East.

The activists added: “One day, history will write how right the Kurds and Önder [president] Öcalan are”. Speaking on behalf of the group, Aynur Dersim underlined that the action before the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) has been carried out with determination for 9 years and added that it will continue until the freedom of Öcalan is achieved.

Dersim said: “We are at the Vigil in front of the Council of Europe, they see us every day and yet they say nothing. History will soon write how right the Kurds are. Emphasizing that Öcalan is the light of women and all oppressed peoples, the group spokesperson added: "Women show commitment to their leadership in this weekly Vigil as in all aspects of their life."
