German Federal government wants to develop a better cooperation with Interpol to protect its citizens and refugees from Turkey.
According to reports by WDR and Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Federal Criminal Police will inform Interpol in case if there are any doubts about the legality of a search warrant of another Interpol member state.
Turkey occasionally puts Kurdish politicians, socialists and activists who live in Europe, to the wanted list of Interpol.
Last summer Spanish police arrested German-Turkish writer Dogan Akhanli in Spain after Turkey put him on the wanted list of Interpol.
Although Cologne public prosecutor's office, which dealt with the accusations against Akhanli in 2014, saw no initial suspicion, German authorities did not share their doubts with Interpol. Now Federal Police is planning to develop a better cooperation with Interpol to avoid such arrests.
