German police obstruct the Kurdish youth in Long March for Öcalan

German police continue their repression against the march of Kurdish youth for Öcalan. The action continues despite all the obstacles.

The German state continues its siege on the Long March staged by Kurdish youth and internationalists demanding freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan who is held in aggravated isolation by the Turkish state.

On the first day of the march, September 2nd, the German police attacked the participants and then banned the march, using the Öcalan tattoo on an arm of an activist as an excuse.

Participants of the march remain resolute in the face of ever-increasing pressures by the German police that make an effort to cause an escalation.

Activists have gathered at the Duisburg Kurdish Democratic Society Centre on Wednesday. The police laid a siege in the area and raided the Kurdish institution at around 11:30 in the morning. Upon the intervention, the activists resumed the march with Öcalan banners to display their democratic reaction in response. In some 10 minutes, German police encircled the participants of the march.

Police repeatedly announced that the march is banned, and told the activists to disperse, facing slogans against repression in response.

One activist was taken into custody by the police.
