French MPs: Rojava offers a model and must be protected from Turkey's attacks and threats

In a statement on the developments in Syria, parliamentarians of the New Popular Front in France said that Rojava offers an important model in this process and called for the protection of this system from Turkey's attacks.

The developments in Syria have brought the importance of the system put forward by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria back to the international agenda. The France Unbowed Party and the New Popular Front of France (NFP) made a statement on the latest developments in Syria.

The Parliamentary Group emphasised the importance of the model built in Rojava for the future of Syria.

“The future of Syria belongs to the Syrian people,” the statement read: “The Assad regime has collapsed. No-one can feel sorry for him. He must be prosecuted for grave crimes... However, the coalition of ‘fighters’ that managed to defeat him and the deep-rooted links of its leader with Al-Qaeda must be carefully assessed. Therefore, the Syrian people must take charge of their future as soon as possible. The Syrian people have all the means to assume sovereignty, internal peace and national reconstruction.”

The statement emphasised that the model implemented by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria should be preserved and continued: “The Rojava administration, established with the participation of Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and other minorities, offers a model in this process. This model must be protected from Turkey's repeated threats and attacks.”

The statement called on regional and international powers to refrain from interfering in Syria's internal affairs, stressing that war should not be an ordinary method of solving regional problems.
