Freedom Vigil in Strasbourg taken over by a group from Bregenz in its 671st week

The Freedom Vigil in Strasbourg, which was launched on June 25, 2012, was taken over by a group from Bregenz in its 671st week.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which was launched in Strasbourg on June 25, 2012, with the aim of achieving the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and ending the İmralı torture system, continues with determination.

The action, which is carried out every week in front of the Council of Europe by groups of Kurds living in Europe and their friends, has entered its 671st week. A group of activists from Bregenz took over the vigil on Wednesday.

Group spokesperson Murat Munsur stated that they have taken over the vigil on behalf of the Sara Cultural Association in Bregenz, Austria.

The group, which aims to raise awareness about Öcalan’s isolation at the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), said, “There is great devotion and solidarity here.”

Murat Munzur called on Kurds and their friends in Europe to strengthen this solidarity action, and expressed their support for Abdullah Öcalan’s February 27 ‘Call for Peace and a Democratic Society’.

Murat Munzur said, “We call on the countries concerned to embrace the new solution process developed by the Kurdish leader and to take steps toward a democratic solution to the Kurdish question.”
