Freedom March from Paris to Strasbourg on its 12th day

The march for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan continued today in the Paris suburb of Villeneuve Saint Georges.

The 25-day march demanding physical freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan continued on its 12th day in the Villeneuve Saint Georges suburb of Paris.

Today’s stage of the march started at 13:30 and continued until Maison Alfort at 16:30.

During the march, thousands of leaflets were distributed to raise awareness of the people in the neighbourhood, while French shopkeepers and institutions in the region were presented with files on the unlawful and intense isolation conditions in which Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is being held.

The activists sang enthusiastically throughout the march, chanting slogans for Öcalan's freedom and saluted the epic guerrilla resistance in the region of Zap, in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Yakup Çelik, one of the activists, took the floor during the march and saluted the heroic resistance of the Kurdish people. Çelik said, "This march is a final for us and for the freedom of our leader. Our organised people should pay attention to this. We thank the friends who are walking on this path, and we salute the resistance in the dungeons and the guerrilla struggle that tramples the enemy in the tunnels."

The postcards collected during the march were sent to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is being held in aggravated isolation in İmralı.

Tomorrow's stage of the march (13th day) will take place in Bobigny, north of Paris. There will also be a music concert.
