‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Marathon’ was organised in Hamburg within the scope of the actions and activities that will continue until 10 October for the physical freedom of the Kurdish leader.
Dozens of Kurds and their German friends organised a marathon run in the city centre of Hamburg with the slogan ‘Freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan’.
Wearing ‘Freedom for Öcalan’ (Freiheit Für Öcalan) T-shirts, the protesters started the marathon at the Europa Passage. After 7 kilometres on the busiest street of the city, the protesters reached the Europa Passage again and ended the marathon.
In a statement at the square, the activists announced that they will continue their freedom marches in hundreds of centres across Europe with the slogan ‘Freedom for Öcalan’ throughout October.
Starting today, the activists will hold leaflet distribution, open information stands and stage marches in a different city every day as part of the series of events they will organise until 10 October, the anniversary of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ campaign, which was launched globally by the friends of the Kurdish people last year.
