Freedom for Öcalan Vigil enters its 425th week

The action, attended by Kurds and their friends from a different city in Europe every week, was taken over by a group from Berlin and Strasbourg, on its 425th week.

This week a group of activists from Berlin and Strasbourg took over Freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan Vigil in front of the Council of Europe.

The action has been carried out on the boulevard where the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) buildings are located in Strasbourg since 25 June 2012.

The action, attended by Kurds and their friends from a different city in Europe every week, was taken over by a group from Berlin and Strasbourg, on its 425th week.

The group is made up of four people, two from Berlin and two from Strasbourg.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the spokesperson Edip Xanegini said: “We are representing the 4 parts of Kurdistan. In the past, we could not stay together for two days in 4 neighbouring villages. Today, the thought of our leadership brought us together. This is also an example of national unity.”

Emphasizing that this is the time for national unity of the Kurdish people, Xanegini continued: "Let the institutions here see us here every day, let us see the loyalty to our Leader. They should stop to play the three monkeys.”
