Freedom for Öcalan Vigil enters its 394th week

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil held in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg has reached week 394.

The group of activists from Evry ve Grigny who took over the Vigil last week was replaced by 4 Kurdish activists from the Normandy region.

Ali Altın, Mehmet Erzurumlu, Süleyman Koça and Hüseyin Ali Baba have underlined the importance of the action to explain to dozens of people every day Öcalan's struggle and life.

This week, the grous statement said the isolation policy carried out vt the Turkish state against the Kurdish People's Leader was a shame. "This isolation is indeed a massacre against our leader and Kurdish people. Every Kurd should think about it well and know that this torture is actually aimed at the people."

The statement also underlined the importance of the confederalism system developed by Öcalan for the future of the peoples of the Middle East.

The four activists also reminded of Öcalan's warnings that if the peoples' own solutions were not implemented, the Middle East would turn into a blood bath.

The group also paid tribute to Kurdish activists, Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez who were murdered on 9 January 2013. "Every martyr is a leader for us", said the activists calling on people to join the rally to be held in Paris on Saturday 11 January.

Launched on 25 June 2012 in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil will continue until Öcalan is liberated.

The action has been going on for almost 8 years, and continues with new groups of activists taking it over every week.
