Kars High Criminal Court sentenced DEP ex- Parliamentarian Mahmut Alýnak to 14 months and 17 days imprisonment with the allegation of reviling against police who tortured a citizen last year.
DEP ex- Parliamentarian Mahmut Alýnak, who spoke that “Torture is a brutish execution” concerning the torture applied on a Digor villager named Tahsin Orman under detention last year was sentenced to 14 months and 17 days imprisonment.
The penalties against Alýnak because of his thoughts reached 10. Alýnak expressed that he will appeal against the decision and told the case process as follows; “The parents of a Digor villager named Tahsin Orman came to me to ask for legal support. I was appalled when I saw the scene in court. Tahsin Orman could hardly remain standing. His face was in scars due to the torture he was exposed to and his torn clothes were covered with dry blood. It was not possible not to be steamed up in face of that scene.
I winced with a rude awakening and said that torture is a brutish execution. I later learned that the police officers there made a joint with the prosecutor and made an official report against me. The prosecutor opened a case against me for reviling against police officers instead of investigating the torture and opening a case against them. The case was held on the basis of 2010/75 of Kars High Criminal Court. The court grounded on the report of police and sentenced me to 14 months 17 days imprisonment for opposing the 124. and 125. articles of Turkish Penal Code”.
