The Turkish PM Recep Erdogan will visit Germany. It is reported that Erdogan will meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel over security issues and recent Turkish constitution amendments. It is also expected that Turkey’s EU membership process will also be discussed during the meeting.
It is reported that the Turkish PM Erdogan will watch Turkey-Germany 2012 European Championship match and next day on 8 October he will meet the German Chancellor Merkel.
German Minister of Interior Thomas de Maiziere met his Turkish counterpart Besir Atalay in Ankara last week. The German minister also said the file on the PKK submitted to him by his counterpart will be handled by the German intelligence services.
Turkish PM Erdogan visited Germany in February 2008 and his statement over lack of Turkish schools in Germany “Assimilation is a crime against humanity” was widely discussed both in German and Turkey. German media has made the comments that Erdogan cannot demand Germany to permit Turkish schools while he is denying mother tongue education for the millions of Kurds living in Turkey.
