Erdoğan receives Barzani at his palace after attacks on Bashur and Rojava

After the Turkish army's cross-border air strikes in northern Iraq (Bashur) and northern Syria (Rojava), Erdogan received South Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani at his palace in Ankara.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), Nechirvan Barzani, at his palace in Ankara. The meeting took place on Wednesday, a day after the Turkish army's airstrikes on Maxmur, Shengal and Rojava.

The official Twitter account of the Turkish presidential office confirmed the meeting and posted a photo of Barzani and a tired-looking Erdogan in front of a Turkish flag.

Turkish airstrikes on Tuesday evening killed nine people in northern Iraq and northern Syria, including three civilians in Shengal, two members of the Self-Defence Forces in Maxmur refugee camp and four SDF fighters guarding an electricity station in Derik. Dozens of people were injured.
