Eight Êzidî women and children rescued in Deir ez-Zor

SDF forces have rescued three Êzidî women and five children in Deir ez-Zor.

The Operation Cizire Storm launched by YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces on September 9 to liberate Deir ez-Zor territory from ISIS has left 71 days behind.

As part of the campaign, SDF forces are advancing towards the Euphrates River. Fighters under SDF umbrella have cleared an area of 5000 square kilometres that involves strategic locations. The fighters have also rescued thousands of civilians from the clutches of ISIS gangs up to date.

ISIS gangs getting trapped in the region are desperately attacking the positions of SDF forces.

Friday evening, the gangs attacked an area 10 km southeast of Tanaq oil field, facing immediate response from SDF fighters. One bomb laden vehicle and one Humvee vehicle of the gangs were destroyed and corpses of 7 ISIS members remained in SDF possession.

After repelling the attack, SDF fighters launched an operation against the ISIS gangs situated 15 km southeast of the oil field. Several ISIS members were neutralized during this operation.

SDF fighters also rescued three Êzidî women and five children who had been abducted by ISIS during the Shengal genocide of 2014. The rescued Êzidîs were taken to a secure area under SDF control.
