Operations of political genocide against the Kurdish population continue in line with the war concept initiated by the fallen AKP government after its historic defeat at June 7 elections. Dozens of people have been detained and many have been remanded in custody in the most recent operations in North Kurdistan, the Kurdish region of Turkey.
VAN
Co-mayor of Van's Erciş district, Diba Keskin, was detained by police teams that came to the municipality building and took her into custody on the grounds of a denunciation against her late yesterday evening. Keskin was taken to Erciş district police station.
On the other hand, three people who had been detained in Van's Çaldıran district on October 11 evening, were remanded in custody and jailed yesterday. The three are accused of “providing arms to an illegal organization”.
HAKKARİ
Colemerg Students' Association (CÖDER) member Mizgin Tetik, HDP Hakkari executives Ömer Kaya ve Melek Yalçın were detained as police conducted simultaneous house raids in Bağlar, Kıran and Bulak neighborhoods of Hakkari at midnight. The detainees were taken to Hakkari police directorate.
ERZURUM
Special operation teams conducted similar raids in Qêrebxwar (Karapınar) neighborhood of Erzurum's Tekman district late last night. DBP district co-chair Aydın Durdeniz who was detained in the operation was taken to Telmen police station.
URFA
Two people were detained by police that conducted house raids in Urfa and its Viranşehir district. Both detainees were taken to Urfa police directorate.
MARDİN
Mitanni Cultural Center staff Nazlı Duman who was detained in Mardin's Nusaybin district yesterday, has been taken to Urfa Police Headquarters.
İSTANBUL
Following the ban on the march organized by DİSK, TMMOB, TTB and KESK from Sirkeci Station and Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty to Beyazıt Square in Istanbul, police detained four "suspects" who were waiting at Kadıköy Ferry Terminal to go to Sirkeci.
ARDAHAN
17 people who had been detained in Kars and Ardahan's Göle district on October 10, have been taken to Ardahan Courthouse. Out of the 17 detainees who included HDP and DBP executives, DBP member Hande Kaya was remanded in custody and sent to Ardahan Closed Prison.
ELAZIĞ
Police teams raided houses in Fevzi Çakmak and Üniversite neighborhoods and a dormitory housing students from Fevzi Çakmak and Fırat University in Elazığ province today. 11 students were detained in the operation and taken to provincial police directorate.
On the other hand, five other people were detained as a result of house raids in Kovancılar district of Elazığ early this morning. The detainees were taken to district police station.
