Demirtaş: We welcome the PKK decision as a historic step

Kurdish politician Selahattin Demirtaş, who is held in Edirne Prison, said they welcomed the PKK’s decision to disband and disarm as a significant move taken in line with the memory of Sırrı Süreyya Önder.

According to a statement by the DEM Party Press Office, Pervin Buldan, a member of the İmralı Delegation, visited Selahattin Demirtaş, former co-chair of the HDP, at Edirne Prison today.

While the latest developments were discussed during the meeting, Demirtaş shared the following message:

"I send my greetings and love to everyone.

Along with the memory of Mr. Sırrı (Süreyya Önder) and the sorrow over his passing, we share the hope of the steps taken towards peace.

On the occasion of the PKK's congress results, we would like to thank the PKK leadership that made this decision, and all those who contributed to it, especially Mr. Öcalan, Mr. President, Mr. Bahçeli, Mr. Özel, and the DEM Party leadership, as well as the leaders of all political parties, and Mr. Ahmet Türk and Ms. Pervin Buldan. We enthusiastically welcome this historic step as a significant move taken in line with the memory of Mr. Sırrı (Süreyya Önder).
