Demirtas: Pm trying to rule country like sovereign
Speaking at Cegerxwin Cultural Centre at the conference themed "Why a new constitution", BDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtas said that Prime Minister Erdoðan is trying to rule the country like a sovereign and imposes the Constitution draft in his mind on public.
PRIME MINISTER WILL IMPOSE THE CONSTITUTION DRAFT ON HIS MIND ON PUBLIC
Demirtaþ spoke as follows; "The Prime Minister is establishing a ground to rule the country alone and on the other side imposes the Constitution draft in his mind on public. We want the constitution to be prepared to reflect the Turkish society. All sides must discuss and express their opinions to prepare this constitution. However, the Prime Minister does not want anyone to criticize the AKP )Justice and Development Party). Besides not paving the way for discussions, he accuses the deliberator of treaso and colluding. The new constitution, however, needs to be done this way. How can a new constitution be prepared now that the Assembly, people and civil society organizations are not included in the constitution process at the moment. This is not known by AKP, the AKP government and academics, either. Only the Prime Minister knows that because he wants to manage the country like royalty. That's why he will impose the draft in his mind on public.
WHY WOULD OUR CHILDREN PRESENT THEIR EXISTENCE TO TURKISH EXISTENCE
Emphasizing that the AKP wants to impose its own constitution on society, Demirtas, spoke as follows; "They have been in power for 8 years but what have they done for the democratization of this country? They haven't even amended the curriculum of National Education. They haven't made even a small change on history books. In this country, children at 6-7 years are lined up in front of schools and made to present their presence to Turkish presence. They are made to swear every day. Deputies, soldiers under arms, and prosecutors swear only once while children present their presence to Turkish presence every day. What has the AKP done in 8 years to change these? Why would my child present his/her presence to the presence of another race?"
