Following meetings with the DEVA (Democracy and Progress Party) and the Saadet (Felicity Party) parties, the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) announced that it had proposed the establishment of a fully authorized commission under the roof of the Parliament.
The delegation, composed of DEM Party co-chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, along with Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairs Sezai Temelli and Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, held separate meetings during the day with the Saadet Party and the DEVA Party.
After the closed-door meetings, the DEM Party’s Press Office issued a written statement.
The statement read: "During these visits, important topics concerning Turkey’s democratic future were discussed. The latest contact with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and the decisions made at the PKK’s 12th Congress on 12 May 2025, were evaluated in detail. Within this context, the responsibilities that political parties and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) should assume were thoroughly discussed.
Our delegation conveyed the proposal to establish a fully authorized commission under the Parliament, one that would include representation from all political tendencies and facilitate democratic consensus.
Our political consultations will continue on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, with visits to the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and the New Welfare Party (YRP), and on Friday, 23 May 2025, with the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi).
Our delegation also plans to continue meetings with all political parties, including the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP)."
