The death toll in the Palestinian territories has risen to 38,153 since the start of the war with Israel nine months ago, the ministry announced on Sunday.

The statement said that at least 55 people have been killed in the last 24 hours, while 87,828 people have been injured in the Gaza Strip since 7 October.

Meanwhile, Israeli demonstrators blocked roads in Tel Aviv for the second day in a row, demanding that the government reach a hostage deal with Hamas.

Flag-waving demonstrators stopped traffic at a Tel Aviv intersection to call for elections and demand that the government do more to free the remaining hostages in Gaza.

The previous day, anti-government demonstrators blocked a motorway, with authorities using water cannons to clear the road and clashes taking place with mounted police.
