DAANES delegation meets with French MPs in Paris

A delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria met with members of the French National Assembly. The aim of the meeting was to secure international support for a pluralistic, decentralized solution.

Representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) held talks with French parliamentarians in Paris. The talks focused on the political situation in Syria, ways to secure international support for the autonomous administration, and the prospects for dialogue with the Syrian transitional government in Damascus.

The delegation consisted of Bedran Çiya Kurd, advisor to the Autonomous Administration, Kerîm Qemer, DAANES representative in France, and Fener Çaçan, member of the Paris representative office.

According to Bedran Çiya Kurd, the meeting served as a forum for discussing ways in which Syria can be stabilized in the long term through a decentralized, pluralistic democracy. “The autonomous administration has been pursuing a model of grassroots self-government with the participation of all ethnic and religious groups for years. Our goal is to create a just solution for all sections of the Syrian population through political participation and local self-determination,” he said.

During the meeting, French MP Danielle Simonnet from La France insoumise (LFI) emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the political process in Syria. She announced that they would work to ensure that the French government also provides greater support for this approach.
