CHP (Republican People’s Party) leader Kemal Kýlýçdaroðlu has arrived in Diyarbakýr. An announcement in Kurdish broadcast from the party-bus made passer-by to react by saying to Kýlýçdaroðlu “You come here in vain”.
CHP General President Kemal Kýlýçdaroðlu was met by CHP representatives, provincial and district chairmen and a number of party members at Diyarbakýr Airport. Party members let white pigeons fly when Kýlýçdaroðlu left form the VIP entrance. In the crowded welcoming, Kýlýçdaroðlu’s bodyguards harassed some journalists.
Kýlýçdaroðlu and the party members then visited SS 38 DHMÝ Airport Taxi-Drivers Association in the airport, where they were met by Association Chair Reþat Yýlmaz and members. During his meeting with Kýlýçdaroðlu, Association Chair Reþat Yýlmaz called for a democratic Turkey, saying; “We want a new Constitution to guarantee our democratic rights. We don’t want any more blood. They are all our brothers”.
After expressing his appreciation for Kýlýçdaroðlu’s visit to the graves of Yýlmaz Güney and Ahmet Kaya in Paris and for his recent meeting with Iraq President Celal Talabani, Yýlmaz voiced his worries and pointed out that he petrol and vehicle prices are quite expensive while animal farming has gone into a decline due to the clash process in the region. The members of the association offered Kýlýçdaroðlu tea and sweets.
Following the talk in the association, Kýlýçdaroðlu and party members left in a convoy towards CHP provincial building. At the convoy passage in Kuruçeþme neighborhood, some citizens made victory signs and hooted at Kýlýçdaroðlu. When an announcement in Kurdish “Çawan in” was broadcast from the party bus, citizens reacted by shouting “You come here in vain”.
Kýlýçdaroðlu is expected to give a speech in CHP Provincial building.
