Chief Pentagon spokeswoman announces resignation

US Department of Defense spokeswoman Dana White announced that she has resigned from the Trump administration.

Chief Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White made an announcement over Twitter and said, “I appreciate the opportunity afforded to me by this administration to serve alongside Secretary Mattis, our Service members and all the civilians who support them. It has been my honor and privilege. Stay safe and God bless.”

White’s resignation came after US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis’ and US Envoy for the International Coalition Brett McGurk’s resignations. Mattis and McGurk had submitted their resignations after US President Donald Trump’s sudden decision to withdraw from Syria.

Former Senator and current Principal Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Charlie Summer was appointed as the Pentagon spokesperson.
