Car bomb wounds 27 in Kirkuk

Three explosions rocked Kurdish areas of Kirkuk, Saturday morning leaving 27 wounded, some of them in serious condition.

Kirkuk security official General Serhad Qadir said three parked cars exploded over a 30 minute perion in three adjacent Kurdish areas.

The bombs targeted the homes of the Partriotic Union of Kurdistan officials, locals said.

But Qadir said it was not knon whether there was a specific target for the blasts.

Dominately a Kurdish city, Kirkuk, 240 kilometres north of Baghdad, lies at the heart of an oil-rich province which is at the centre of a dispute between Arabs, Turkmen and Kurds.
