Buldan: Attacking people’s will with tanks is called fascism

"We promise our people: those trustees will be sent back to Ankara, the HDP will hand over our seats to women", said HDP Co-chair Buldan.

HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) co-chair Pervin Buldan attended the party's Ankara Provincial Congress on Sunday.

“When a people's achievements are trying to be destroyed by tanks, this is called fascism”, said Buldan.

The HDP co-chair drew attention to the AKP practices of political genocide. “In this country, - said Buldan - the third largest party enjoying the support of 6.5 million people has its co-chairs and scores of deputies and members put in prison. It is hard to explain such a situation. In this country to ban politics meant to put Demirtaş and Yüksekdağ in prison. To ban politics meant to reject the will of the people by replacing their elected representatives with State-appointed trustees. It meant seizing the gains of the Kurdish people".

Buldan confirmed that the party has designed a plan of actions to support HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven, who is held hostage and went on hunger strike against the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Buldan added that the AKP is trying to export the crisis in Turkey to other regions, especially the east of Euphrates and Rojava.

The HDP co-chair also had some words for the forthcoming local election message. “We promise our people: those trustees will be sent back to Ankara, the HDP will hand over our seats to women”.

Buldan added: “Ankara and Istanbul are especially important, and if we want to defeat this fascist mentality and want to make the AKP lose, it is the time to unite, to create solidarity and unity. We have to forge a wide alliance in order to enter the way of democracy and freedom. We will win in Ankara. We will win in Kurdistan”.

Responding to claims, Buldan stated that they had no secret meeting with the AKP. She said: “We are faced with a perception operation in recent days. We never had a talk with the AKP, and we would like to announce that we will never meet with a mentality that imprisons Demirtaş, Yüksekdağ, Baluken and all our deputies in prison. In principle, this is the first of all the issues that we will not make concessions on. Everyone should feel at ease on this matter.”
