Berlin hunger strikers visited by Latin American activists

The Latin American activists expressed their support for the demand of the hunger strikers, to end isolation against Abdullah Öcalan.

Hunger strikers Cemal Kobanê, Ömer Bağdur, Mele Mustafa Tuzak and Şiyar Xelil in Berlin have received a visit by a Latin American group of activists.

The DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven is leading the hunger strike resistance which is now carried out by thousands in prisons and around Europe and the world. In Berlin, Cemal Kobanê, Ömer Bağdur, Mele Mustafa Tuzak and Şiyar Xelil have joined the hunger strike at different dates and are carrying out the action at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (NAV-DEM) in Berlin. 

Five activists from Guatemala, Peru, Chile, Bolivia have paid a visit to the hunger strikers and spent time talking with them about the reason for the protest as well as their health situation.  

The Latin American activists said they would inform about the hunger strike resistance in their countries.

Mele Mustafa Tuzak, who joined the hunger strike resistance from Duisburg, has reached day 98 of fast while Şiyar Xelil from Nürnberg has reached day 84, Ömer Bağdur from Kassel and Cemal Kobanê day 81. Mele Mustafa Tuzak, who suffered serious health problems linked to heart failure on Thursday, said he would continue fasting until isolation is lifted.
