While the recent high rises in oil prices were protested, Provincial Co-Chair Mustafa Yelkenli stated that the most expensive oil is sold in Turkey, adding; “Selling the most expensive petrol in an oil-country Turkey is an apparent exploitation”.

Emphasizing that the rises must have acceptable reason, Yelkenli pointed out that the rise in oil prices almost once a month despite Erdoðan’s words ‘The crisis was tangent to us’ is a big deception. Yelkenli remarked that the regular raises in oil play people for ‘fool’ and added;

“The government must drop the tax rate in oil and mark down the oil prices to 2 TL which is the average of European countries. It is high time to say stop to this situation. Besides following an insincere policy on vital subjects like democratization, Kurdish problem and Alevi problem, the AKP government takes no steps for the benefit of people. Our people are becoming impoverished day by day and squalidity makes its presence felt in all lebensraum. That is why we are protesting against this extortionate oil prices and ask for withdrawal of prices at short notice”.

Following the statement, BDP members visited the silicosis patients who started their 15 day waiting in Petrol-Ýþ Union.
