STOCKHOLM

Kurds and their friends gathered at Rålambshov Park in the center of Stockholm to celebrated the 15 August Initiative.

The Kurdish people placed the photos of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and the martyrs in the tent they set up in the crowded park.

A short speech by People's Defense Center Headquarters Commander Murat Karayılan explained the meaning of the 15 August Initiative for the Kurdish Freedom Movement and the Kurdish People was screened.

Zeyneb Morad, co-chair of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), commemorated with respect and gratitude all fighters who carried out the 15 August Initiative and fell martyr at the time.

Morad added: “If we are talking about our achievements in Kurdistan today, this is thanks to 15 August.”

Answering ANF's questions about the 15 August Initiative, KNK co-chair Ahmet Karamus, said that the 15 August Initiative was a national revolt and renaissance.

VIENNA

15 August 1984 was celebrated in Vienna with an action organised by TEKO-JIN and TCŞ activists.

KIEL

15 August 1984 was also celebrated in Kiel, Germany.

The celebration area was decorated with the posters of Mahsum Korkmaz (Agit), Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and many martyrs.

The speech made at the celebration underlined that 15 August was a turning point for the Kurdish people.

Speakers also paid tribute to Martyr Mam Zeki Şengali and saluted the resistance of Heftanin.

COPENHAGEN

Activists in Ishøj, in Copenhagen. In the speech made at the celebration, it was stated that all-out resistance against total war will be raised all over the world.

A call was made to embrace the resistance of Heftanin.

RENNES

Activists also celebrated 15 August 1984 in Rennes where a football tournament was organized in La Poterie Park. Seven teams participated in the tournament.

MANTES LA JOLIE

A tournament was organized in Mantes la Jolie, France to celebrate 15 August.

Speakers at the event said that 15 August was a new beginning for the peoples of the Middle East.

EVRY

People celebrated 15 August 1984 in the banlieu of Evry in Paris.

After the speeches on the meaning and importance of 15 August a video was screened.

The celebration ended with the performance of Ozan Şemdin and TEV-ÇAND Paris artists.
