Activists in Gavle and Toronto protest isolation

Following the announcement by the KCK last week of the “End to Isolation, Fascism and Occupation. Time to Ensure Freedom" campaign, an action was held in Gävle, Sweden and in Toronto, Canada.

The Gävleborg People's Assembly promoted an action against the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan at the local train station.

Protesters gathered with banners and flags in their hands, chanting slogans such as "Freedom for Öcalan, peace in Kurdistan!" and "Fascist Erdogan!".

A speech made on behalf of the People’s Assembly, condemned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish state's attacks in Kurdistan while at the same time calling on the EU and European countries to take a stance.

On the other side of the ocean, in Toronto, the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan was also protested. Activists demanded freedom for Öcalan in the action organized by the Toronto Kurdish People's Assembly.

Kurds and their friends also condemned the 12 September 1980 fascist military coup.

In the press statement read during the action, the Canadian state, non-governmental organizations and the public were called to react to the genocide of the Kurdish people.
