Actions against isolation in London and Brussels

Kurds and their friends protested the isolation against Abdullah Öcalan in front of the British Parliament in London and in front of the European Parliament in Brussels.

Different actions are being organised to in solidarity with the hunger strike resistance demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The latest one was in front of Westminster in London and was organized by the Kurdish People's Assembly and the Immigrant Workers Association.

Erdoğan is a dictator

A long banner in English saying ‘Erdoğan is a dictator’ and photos of Öcalan and the hunger strikers have been displayed.

Kurdish organisations representatives, left-wing, socialist and women representatives spoke at the action.

All speakers called on people to increase solidarity with the hunger strikers and asked the United Kingdom to put pressure on Turkey. After the speeches, leaflets explaining the reason of the hunger strike resistance were handed out.

Action in Brussels

An action was held near the European Parliament in Brussels to protest isolation and to support the hunger strike resistance.

The action took place in Luxembourg square across the European Parliament.

NAVBEL and YNK-B promoted the action and opened a banner about the hunger strike.

The activists condemned the isolation imposed on Öcalan and demanded his freedom while at the same time condemning the fascist attacks carried out by the Turkish state.

A statement issued by NAVBEL also critiziced the silence of the European institutions, in particular the CPT on isolation and the hunger strikes.
