Boğaziçi University Feminist Collective said that Nükhet Sirman, an academic in the Department of Sociology, had been taken into custody.

The group said that research carried out by the academic was cited as a justification for the detention. The group wrote on its "X" account: "Nükhet Sirman, an academic in the Sociology Department of our school, was unlawfully taken into custody. She should immediately be released!"

Academics for Peace said: "Our teacher, friend, peace signatory Nükhet Sirman was unlawfully detained regarding a meeting she held within the scope of her field research and was subjected to arbitrary practices during the detention."
