Şenyaşar family’s Justice Vigil continues on day 46

For 46 days, Emine and Ferit Şenyaşar have been demanding justice in front of Urfa Courthouse for their family members murdered by bodyguards and relatives of an AKP deputy.

Due to the lockdown because of the skyrocketing Coronavirus cases in Turkey, the Şenyaşar family has to move their vigil home. For 46 days, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have been demanding justice outside the court in Urfa. In June 2018, bodyguards and relatives of AKP deputy Ibrahim Halil Yıldız murdered Emine Şenyaşar's husband Hacı Esvet and her two sons Celal and Adil Şenyaşar. A third son, Fadıl Şenyaşar, who defended himself and his family, was sentenced to 37 years in prison on flimsy murder charges.

"Court is accomplice of the perpetrators"

The family stated the following on their Twitter account, "Due to the lockdown, we continue our struggle at home. The court that announced a continuation of the confidentiality order on the files on the hospital is nothing but an accomplice. We will file charges online today. It's either justice or justice."

With the tweet, the family refers to the confidentiality order on the proceedings on the so-called hospital complex of murders. The three family members who were killed had been seriously injured in the attack by AKP deputy Yıldız's bodyguards in their store. Adil and Celal Şenyaşar were shot in the hospital, and their father was beaten to death outside the clinic by a mob of Yıldız's relatives. Camera footage of the incident exists, but is being withheld by the judiciary.
