3 villages and 15 hamlets cleared of ISIS in Raqqa operation

YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces have liberated 3 villages and 15 hamlets in their ongoing Operation Wrath of Euphrates. Several ISIS members were killed in clashes and 5 were captured alive.

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters besieged the al-Rashid, Aby Qira and al-Jayef villages of Raqqa yesterday and cleared all the three villages following fierce clashes with ISIS gangs.

Several ISIS members were killed, large quantities of ammunition belonging to them were seized and an ISIS drone was downed.

4 SDF fighters were martyred during the clashes in the mentioned villages. Reports suggest that some villagers died or got injured as result of mine explosion despite efforts to stand clear of the gangs.

On the other hand, 5 ISIS members were captured alive during the search and sweep efforts in the liberated villages of Eriş and Baran east of Raqqa. SDF fighters also seized munitions from the gangs.

In the fourth phase of the Operation Wrath of Euphrates that was relaunched on May 10 after a 15-day suspension, SDF fighters liberated 15 villages, 44 hamlets, one cotton factory, one military training center and Farmers Union HQ in one week.

The villages liberated in the SDF campaign are: El Cayif, El Reşîd, Ebu Qira, El Melalî, El-Atşana, El Ensar, El Rafîa, Al Celaa, Meyselûn, Xirbet El-Xan, Til Maaz, Til Mehles, Eriş, Baran and Mesakin Eskerî.
