11 guerrilla bodies buried in cemetery of the nameless

11 bodies kekpt in Malatya Forensic Medicine Institute have been buried in cemetery of the nameless. The bodies were reportedly unrecognizable.

Human Rights Association (IHD) Malatya branch administrator Mehmet Tuncel stated that 23 bodies, of 20 HPG members and 3 MLKP members who lost their lives in clashes and airstrikes in the countryside of Dersim, Bingöl and Elazığ during the past two months, have been brought to the Forensic Medicine Institute in Malatya.

According to Tuncel, bodies of 2 MLKP members and 10 HPG members have been received by their families, while the other 11 bodies have been buried in cemetery of the nameless two weeks ago.

Tuncel pointed out that they as IHD could receive information from the Forensic Medicine Institute before the declaration of State of Emergency, while they are denied access to information during the State of Emergency and can obtain information only through the appeal of families of the deceased.

Tuncel said families coming to the Forensic Medicine Institute to identify the bodies told them that corpses are unrecognizable and lost physical integrity.

According to the information gathered from families, 23 bodies have been brought to the Forensic Medicine Institute during the last two months. 9 of these - three belonging to MLKP fighters- were brought from Dersim, 7 from Bingöl and 7 from Karakoçan, Elazığ.

IHD administrator Mehmet Tuncel added that 4 more families, one being Iranian, have given blood sample to prosecutor’s office for a DNA test to reclaim the bodies of their fallen children.
