Fighters of the YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) who are defending the Rojava Revolution and every inch of Rojava lands have become the guarantee of the building of free life for peoples.

YPG/YPJ fighters who are welcoming the third anniversary of the revolution in their emplacements told ANF about their feelings and thoughts on the revolution. Combatants of Rojava called on all peoples, women and youths to join the revolution, while promising to defend it to the end.

'ROJAVA REVOLUTION BECAME THE HOPE FOR FREEDOM'

Haydar Garzan: Before the beginning of the Rojava Revolution and civil war in Syria, the uprisings in the Middle East were defined as 'Arab Spring' or 'Peoples' Spring'. This was, however, not a peoples' spring but the clash of systems and the dominant. In Syria, which was facing a serious deadlock, a civil war broke out in this process. Having anticipated this process beforehand, the leading dynamics of the Kurdish people were already well-prepared. The foundation built in Rojava by the 30-year-old Kurdish movement and Leader, and the social reality it revealed enabled the Kurdish people to respond to this process with revolution when the civil war first erupted. The Baath regime subjected the Kurdish people to repression and cruelty for dozens of years and tried to destroy our people by means of policies for homogenisation and assimiliation, such as the Arab Belt, as a result of which the Rojava territory was splitted and the peoples were severed from each other. The still present disunity among our cantons is also a consequence of this process. In consideration of all these facts, the process of revolution that began in Kobanê on July 19 became a hope for freedom for our peoples. In the past, neither Kurds nor other peoples were able to live with their own identities. The revolution eneabled our peoples to lead a free and equal life bearing their identities.

'WE PROVED THE INVINCIBILITY OF THE REVOLUTION'

Our revolution faced major attacks over Kobanê where the revolution was ignited. In the most recenet major assault, ISIS barbarians backed by some forces attacked Kobanê in the most inhumane, immoral and savage ways. Our people and fighters, however, resisted to attacks with a great will and determination. The defense force of the revolution that buried ISIS in Kobanê have shown to the whole world that the revolution would be defended against any attack, and proved the invincibility of the revolution in which Arins became a symbol with their acts of self-sacrifice. Our people who trusted in revolution for equality and freedom are the greatest defender and protector of the revolution. The peoples of Rojava and Syria met a new life thanks to this revolution, a life they will never abandon.

We call on our young people to join the ranks of the revolution and to defend it. All Kurdish youths must certainly take their place in this historic process and building of a new life.

'WOMEN BECAME THE MAJOR FORCE OF THE REVOLUTION'

Zilan Amed: The foundation of our revolution, which is of crucial importance for the freedom and progress of peoples, was created by Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). It is not only Kurdish people living in Rojava which also houses Armenian, Assyrian, Arab and other peoples and belief groups. This is the revolution of the peoples, not only of Kurds. Our peoples do embrace and support the revolution and fight alongside the YPG/YPJ, who are the defense force of this revolution.

The stance, objective and determination of the women here has proved the major role of women in revolution. With Arin Mirkan and other martyrs of self-sacrifice, it has become a revolution of women. This is a revolution of not only peoples but also of women who are the major force of it. This revolution witnessed a women's struggle against the male-dominant mentality, power relations and all forms of reactionism and slavery. Our struggle is not solely an armed fight against gangs. The will of women has also waged a great struggle and created a significant transformation in terms of mentality. This transformation was greatly influenced by the works of the Kurdish leader in this region, and was completed by the will revealed by women and their power in practice, which enabled women to become the major force of the Rojava Revolution today.

'REVOLUTION WILL BE DEFENDED EVEN IF A SINGLE YPG/YPJ FIGHTER IS LEFT'

Piling Merdin: Leader Apo has a determining influence on the emergence of the Rojava Revolution and the developments that followed it. The distinctive character of our revolution is the fact that it represents and belongs to the peoples of different backgrounds and belief groups. From Kobanê to Qamishlo, they are being able to express themselves. The revolution is based on the peoples who are building it.

Of course the revolution has, and had, heavy prices. Yet, it is going to be defended whatever it may cost, and even if a single YPG/YPJ fighter is left alive. We will continue building the new life together with our people and proving the invincibility of the revolution to the whole world.

'THE BRIGHT FUTURE OF OUR PEOPLES'

Ararat Kato: As it enters its fourth year, the revolution has achieved major gains in many areas, including culture, art, language and defense. Rojava Revolution and resistance is the bright future of our peoples. It is a women's revolution for the liberation of the women in the first place, and of the society and the life after that. We will be defending the revolution in our emplacements to the end.

'REVOLUTION OF ALL THE WORLD'S WOMEN'

Avesta Zerdeşt: To us, revolution means a march to a free life following in the footsteps of Arin Mirkan. YPJ is the major defense force of this revolution. On all the fronts, we are inflicting heavy blows on the enemy and those attacking the revolution. With the occasion of the anniversary of the revolution, I am calling on all women to join and embrace the revolution. All the women may not possibly join the fight in the battlefield but there is certainly a work they could do in any other part of the revolution. They should take their part there and embrace the revolution which belongs to all the world's women and peoples. On this basis, I call on everyone to join and support the revolution, and state hereby that we as YPJ will be defending it to the very end.

'VICTORY OF REVOLUTION IS ABSOLUTE'

Amara Şiyar: I took part in the resistance in Shengal and Kobanê. As YPJ, we have clearly manifested in both Kobanê and Shengal that this revolution will not be defeated as long as we are there. With our will, we proved that this revolution, the women's and society's hope for freedom, will grow more and more. The victory of the revolution is absolute now. What will be done from now on is to enhance it and its defense. We protected the revolution under any circumstances, inflicted heavy blows on the gangs, and never took a single step back in the face of the attacks. From now on as well, resistance and victory will be our response to those attacking the revolution and women's freedom.
