YJŞ: We launched this initiative to avenge Êzidî women

Shengal Women’s Units (YJŞ) announced that they launched the 'Initiative to Avenge Êzidî Women’ and called for support.

Shengal Women’s Units (YJŞ) issued a written statement on their new 'Initiative to Avenge Êzidî Women’.

YJŞ Military Council member Viyan Shengal read the statement in a press conference, and said that they launched the initiative to avenge Êzidî women and save the women that ISIS continues to hold hostage.

In its statement, YJŞ recalled that ISIS gangs carried out a massacre in Shengal more than 2 years ago and brutally killed Êzidî en masse and kidnapped thousands of women and children. YJŞ emphasized that its members would never forget the pains of women that have been raped, tortured and sold in slave markets.

‘WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL WE LIBERATE OUR WOMEN’

YJŞ said “There were those that got scared and abandoned us when the massacre took place. It was only the fighters of Leader Apo that came to our rescue. Thanks to them, we avoided destruction and stood back up to gain the courage of bringing ISIS to account. Since August 3, 2014, we have been increasing our anger and organizing oursevles to take revenge. As the free girls of Ezidxan, we took part in all initiatives to liberate Shengal from ISIS gangs. In the meanwhile, we rescued hundreds of women and children in the areas that we liberated. However, the gangs still hold thousands of our people. We have not forgotten Êzidî women sold in markets in Mosul or burnt alive. We know that the people that ISIS holds as hostage are waiting for us to rescue them. We will not stop until we liberate our women and take revenge.”

‘WE WILL BRING ISIS TO ACCOUNT’

YJŞ stated that women will no longer be the slaves or victims of anyone, and will bring ISIS to account as they take revenge. YJŞ described the liberation of their villages and land as their utmost priority, and said this is why they have launched their revenge initiative.

CALL FOR SUPPORT

Lastly, YJŞ called upon everyone with a conscience to take part in join struggle with them and support YJA Star, YPJ and all other freedom fighters that fight for the freedom of women in Kurdistan.
