Yazidi and Arab youth in Shengal express their support for Öcalan’s call

Êzidxan Youth Union, Shengal Young Women's Union and Shengal Arab Youth Initiative announced their support for Abdullah Öcalan’s call.

The Shengal Young Women's Union and the Êzidxan (Yazidi Land) Youth Union made a press statement in the ‘Leader’s Garden’ in the Kers Valley regarding the historic ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’ made by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on Thursday.

A banner reading ‘Leader Apo is the Sun of Êzidxan’ was unfurled during the demonstration, which started with a minute of silence.

The group stated that Öcalan’s message was met by the Yazidi community with great enthusiasm, emphasizing that the Yazidi people stand by Abdullah Öcalan both in war and peace.

Yazidi Youth Union Spokesperson Sara Botan said, “Whatever Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) says, we stand by him.”

Sara Botan saluted the Kurdish leader’s resistance in İmralı and pointed out that Öcalan has been trying to resolve the Kurdish problem through dialogue for 50 years.

Remarking that Yazidis have been organizing themselves based on Öcalan’s perspective for 11 years, Sara Botan stressed that they will work in line with the call of Öcalan.

After Sara Botan's speech, the Shengal Arab Youth Initiative also sent a message of support and greetings to Öcalan.

The group then chanted the slogan ‘Bijî Serok Apo’ (Long Live Leader Öcalan) and danced together.
