Varto City Council Co-President remanded in custody

Co-President of the City Council in Varto district of Muş has been remanded in custody following the recent declaration of self-governance in the district against the never-ending attacks and repression by the Turkish state and its security forces.

Co-President of the City Council in Varto district of Muş has been remanded in custody following the recent declaration of self-governance in the district against the never-ending attacks and repression by the Turkish state and its security forces.

Varto City Council Co-President Mustafa Doğan had been detained the previous day on the grounds of “aiding and abetting the PKK”, and was referred to courthouse yesterday.

Doğan has been remanded in custody today on alleged charges of "aiding and abetting an organisation" and "declaring self-governance". He has been sent to Muş Closed Prison.
