Turkish army launches heavy KDP-backed wave of attacks on Kurojahro

The Turkish army launched a massive KDP-backed wave of attacks on Kurojahro. Fierce clashes are taking place between the Turkish army and guerrillas trying to land in the area with the support of attack helicopters.

The HPG Press Center statement is as follows: “At 22:36 on the night of 22 April, a total of 9 attack helicopters and a Skorsky type helicopter belonging to the invading Turkish army came from the KDP-controlled Amadiya-Dêrelok line and bombarded the Kurojahro area. The Turkish army tried to land soldiers from Skorsky type helicopters. Our forces in the Kurojahro Resistance Area intervened and struck these helicopters.

Later in the night, the Turkish army brought 10 more helicopters and intensified its attack on this area. Our forces severely damaged one helicopter. A helicopter of the Turkish army, which was trying to land soldiers at the Sîre base in Sheladize and remove the dead and wounded soldiers there, was hit by our forces during takeoff.”

The statement continued: “Helicopters belonging to the Turkish army attacked the Kurojahro Resistance Area by flying over the KDP-controlled areas. In addition to attack helicopters and Skorsky helicopters, the Turkish army also used a US-made Çinok (CH-47 Chinook) helicopter in this attack.

These heavy and comprehensive attacks represent a new stage and wave of attacks both in the Kurojahro Resistance Area and in the invasion operation of the Zap region. The resistance of our guerrilla forces in this area and intense clashes continue.”
